Glasgow
After almost 12 years at the Sanger Institute, I’ve now moved to the Institute of Biodiversity, Animal Health and Comparative Medicine at the University of Glasgow. I’ll also be part of the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Parasitology.

Ethiopian VL
I’m particularly excited about two new papers - describing both the immunology and genome data from parasites in a cohort of VL and VL-HIV patients from Northern Ethiopia. These come out of the PhD work of Yegnasew Takele, a wonderful Ethiopian PhD student at Imperial.

A container of mixed-up Mash
I’ve been trying to write a k-mer sketching based pipeline to do fast QC of the population structure of read data. The idea is this will be a nextflow pipeline that I could run on large collections of reads and check that the data roughly make sense in terms of e.
